How the piece ‘release’ came to be (audio)

I wrote this piece a couple of weeks ago while working on a personal issue. I received a message through channeling that I need to release by writing a piece of music, which will intensify and quicken the process.

Down I set next to my piano wondering how I could portray ‘release’ in sounds. The channeled ideas were starting to flow. What is release? A severance of sorts, like chains being cut off… a short explosive action. This is to be a reoccurring theme.

The ideas start coming up now fragmented and without order. One thing is clear though. The piece ought to become lighter and lighter, until it transforms into a dance at the end, when the underlying heaviness finally dissipates.

The fingers are moving along the keyboard without knowing were to go next, without a plan.

At the start, the feelings of heaviness are portrayed by harsh, loaded chords, soon these soften up into broken chords. Then another softening occurs… the sounds are flowing now and are lighter, runs and trills appear. Then a melody is revealed and at last lightness in its zenith – a dance. The severing theme keeps reappearing in between sections until there isn’t any more to sever. The releasing process has been completed with love.

The piece can help release any issue or can be heard in a more general way, according to what’s most needed at the time.

The timing of this channeled message has a special significance. It was gifted to me as we approach the Jewish New Year, a perfect time in which to throw out the old and make room for the new.
