Auld Scottish Sangs
The poetry of the national Scottish bard Robert Burns Set to music by Joseph Haydn
Cantor David Rome tenor
Sharona Joshua Schantz fortepiano
A selection of folksongs carefully chosen from the Thomson collection published in 1802; the crème de la crème of Scottish favourites for voice and fortepiano, presented to you by this unique duo.
This inimitable collaboration between Cantor David Rome and Sharona Joshua promises a performance clad with fresh insight into the poetry of Burns aided by Haydn’s characteristic and elegant symphonies and accompaniments.
Interludes of delightful solo fortepiano pieces by Haydn such as Variations, Klavierstücke and Sonata movements are nimbly interspersed throughout which make for a charming, attractive and varied programme.
